We are excited to share some fantastic updates and new features we’ve rolled out in the Mussel App, aimed at enhancing your aquaculture management experience. Here’s what’s new:
Full Geofencing Capabilities
Our app now includes geofencing features. Mussel App not only tracks when your boats visit your farms but also notifies you as you approach a farm. This feature also will pop up a list of all tasks required for the farm you’re on, ensuring nothing is overlooked.
Oyster Farm Trials
We’re expanding beyond mussels! Mussel App is now being trialed with oyster farms, using various methods including sticks, baskets, and long lines. This is an exciting step in broadening the app’s utility and versatility.
Enhanced OCR Functionality
We have significantly improved our Optical Character Recognition (OCR) functionality for scanning forms related to harvest, seeding, assessments, and floating. This enhancement ensures greater accuracy and efficiency in data entry and management.
Improved Map Loading and App Speed
Users will notice faster loading times for maps and an overall increase in the speed of the mobile app. This improvement is aimed at providing a smoother and more responsive user experience.
Bug fixes and other improvements
We’re regularly releasing new bug fixes and user reported improvements. We introdued qr code login, yes we know how many of you forget the password, we also introduced map tracing, the map now moves with your boat automatically. And many many small improvements from your ideas!
Coming Soon – Machine Learning Predictions
While our statistical modeling and forecasting for tasks in mussel farming are already getting traction, we are excited to announce that we are currently trialing our first machine learning prediction feature. These new capabilities are set to be released next month, offering even more precise and actionable insights.
North American Market Compatibility
We recently visited several farmers in the USA and Canada to gain a deeper understanding of their unique farming challenges. While Mussel App addresses many operational issues, we recognise that our data structures need adjustments for the North American market. We are working on this and aim to release a compatible version later this year.
