Creating a New Line for Mussel and Oyster Farms

After creating a new farm in Mussel App, the next step is to create a line. The process for creating a line differs slightly between mussel and oyster farms. Follow the instructions below for each type:

Creating a Line for Mussel Farms:

  1. Access the Farm:
    • Navigate to the farm you have created and click on it.
    • In the top right corner, click the Add Line button.
  2. Name the Line:
    • The line will be auto-named based on the last line you added. You can edit the name, e.g., calling it “1A.”
  3. Set the Backbone Length:
    • Enter the backbone length of the line. For example, you might set it to 200 meters.
  4. Localise the Line:
    • Click the Pickup button next to the location field.
    • On the map, click to mark the start and end points of the line.
    • This will draw a red line on the map.
    • Click Confirm, and the system will auto-generate the latitude and longitude coordinates for the line.
  5. Finalise the Line Creation:
    • Once confirmed, your new mussel line will be created and saved.

Creating a Line for Oyster Farms:

  1. Access the Farm:
    • Navigate to your oyster farm and click on it.
    • In the top right corner, click Add Line.
  2. Name the Line:
    • Create a line name, e.g., “1B.”
  3. Set the Backbone Length:
    • Input the backbone length, for instance, 100 meters.
  4. Select the Farming Method:
    • Choose the appropriate farming method from the options you set up earlier (e.g., sticks or baskets). In this example, select baskets.
  5. Set Capacity:
    • Define the capacity for the line, such as 200 baskets. This will allow the app to track how full the line is.
  6. Localise the Line:
    • Click the Pickup button to specify the line’s location.
    • On the map, click to mark the start and end points, which will create a red line.
    • Click Confirm, and the system will generate the latitude and longitude coordinates.
  7. Finalise the Line Creation:
    • Once confirmed, the new line for oysters will be saved.

By following these steps, you can successfully create lines for both mussel and oyster farms in the Mussel App, with proper tracking of location, length, and capacity.
